The five Human Design types · a field guide

Every human alive runs on one of five engines.

Type is the first and bluntest cut of a Human Design chart: what your energy is here to do, and what it was never built for. Most chronic exhaustion is just a person running another type's strategy.

§ II · Cast your chart

Three lines of birth data.
Your type is already decided.

Type cannot be guessed from a quiz. It is read from the bodygraph, which is calculated from the exact date, time, and place you were born. Ninety seconds of data and Eva tells you which of the five you are, and what that changes.

§ III · Side by side

The five types, compared.

Four things separate the types: how common they are, how they are meant to enter things (strategy), the shape of their aura, and the emotion that signals they are off track (the not-self theme).

§ IV · The dossiers

Each type, in brief.

IGenerator

≈ 37% · Wait to respond

The life force of the planet. Generators carry a consistent inner motor that responds to life with a gut yes or no. When they follow what lights the motor up, work sustains them. When they initiate from the head, they burn out.

IIManifesting Generator

≈ 33% · Respond, then inform

A Generator with a fast lane. MGs are built for multiple tracks at once, skipped steps, and mid-course corrections. What looks chaotic from outside is design. Their work is to respond first and inform the people their speed will affect.

IIIProjector

≈ 21% · Wait for the invitation

The seers. Projectors are not built for long hours of output. They are built to read systems and people, and to guide them, but only where they have been genuinely invited. Unrecognized effort is what makes a Projector bitter.

IVManifestor

≈ 9% · Inform before acting

The initiators. Manifestors are the only type designed to start from nothing: the urge arrives and they move. The cost of that freedom is impact, so their practice is informing the people in the blast radius before acting. Not asking. Informing.

VReflector

≈ 1% · Wait a full lunar cycle

The mirrors. Every center in a Reflector chart is open, which makes them living readings of the rooms and people around them. Their big decisions are meant to take twenty-eight days, one full pass of the moon through the chart.

§ V · The mechanics

Where type comes from.

Type is not a score on a questionnaire. It is read from the bodygraph: which of the nine centers are defined in your chart, and whether a motor center connects to the throat. A defined sacral makes you a Generator or Manifesting Generator. A motor-to-throat connection without sacral definition makes you a Manifestor. Definition without either makes you a Projector, and no definition at all makes you a Reflector.

That is why two people with near-identical personalities can be different types, and why your type cannot change. It was set by the sky at the minute of your birth, and it describes your aura, the energetic footprint you leave in a room before you say a word.

Strategy is the practical consequence. It is the way your specific aura is designed to meet the world, and it is the single highest-leverage experiment in the whole system. Most people feel the difference inside a month of using it.

§ VI · Eva

Knowing your type is the start, not the point.

A label does not change a life. What changes a life is noticing, in real time, the hundred small moments where you act against your own wiring: the Projector volunteering into rooms that never asked, the Generator initiating from the head, the Manifestor asking permission. That noticing is what Eva is for. She knows your type, your authority, and your whole chart, and she answers your actual questions through that lens, without ever lecturing you about the system.

Ask her whether to take the job, and a Generator gets a different answer than a Projector, because the right way to decide is different. That is the difference between reading about your type and having something that remembers it for you.

§ VII · Questions

Asked, in the quiet.

What are the 5 Human Design types?

+

Generator (about 37%, strategy: respond), Manifesting Generator (about 33%, respond then inform), Projector (about 21%, wait for the invitation), Manifestor (about 9%, inform before acting), and Reflector (about 1%, wait a full lunar cycle). Type is determined by which centers are defined in your bodygraph and how they connect to the throat.

How do I find out my Human Design type?

+

From your birth data, not from a quiz. Type depends on the exact planetary positions at your birth, so it is read from a calculated chart. Enter your date, time, and city of birth above and Eva reads your type directly from the bodygraph, free.

What is the rarest Human Design type?

+

The Reflector, at roughly 1% of the population. Reflectors have no defined centers at all, which makes them mirrors of their environment. The next rarest is the Manifestor at roughly 9%.

What is the difference between a Generator and a Manifesting Generator?

+

Both have a defined sacral and respond to life rather than initiating. The MG also has a motor connected to the throat, which adds speed: multiple tracks at once, skipped steps, fast course corrections. Generators go deeper into fewer things; MGs range wider and adjust on the move.

Can your Human Design type change?

+

No. Type is calculated from the planetary positions at the moment of your birth and stays fixed for life. What changes is how correctly you live it: frustration, bitterness, anger, and disappointment fade as you run your own strategy instead of someone else’s.

§ VIII · The door

One of these five is you.

You have been one of them since your first breath. The only question is whether you have been living it, or living against it. Ninety seconds of birth data settles it.
