The seven authorities · a comparison

Your body already knows. The question is where.

Authority is Human Design's answer to the oldest practical question there is: how should I decide? There are seven mechanisms. You have exactly one, and it was set at birth.

Part of the Human Design system · works together with your type's strategy.

Three lines of birth data.
One of the seven is yours.

Authority follows a strict hierarchy read from your defined centers. Eva calculates your chart free and tells you not just which authority you have, but what actually obeying it looks like in your week.

§ III · Side by side

Seven ways a body says yes.

The hierarchy matters: a defined solar plexus overrides everything and makes you emotional. No solar plexus but a defined sacral makes you sacral. And so on down the chain, to the Reflector's lunar month.

ISacral Authority

≈ 35% of people · Instant

Generators and Manifesting Generators

A gut yes or no that fires in the moment of being asked. The response lives in the body, not the reasoning. Truest when answering out loud to a direct question.

IIEmotional Authority

≈ 47% of people · Slow · after the wave

Any type with a defined solar plexus

No truth in the now. Clarity arrives only after the emotional wave has passed through its high and low. The rule is simple and hard: sleep on it, usually more than once.

IIISplenic Authority

≈ 11% of people · Instant · once only

Projectors and Manifestors with a defined spleen

A quiet, one-time instinct in the moment. It does not repeat and it does not argue. The practice is catching a whisper the mind will immediately try to talk over.

IVEgo Authority

≈ 1% of people · In the moment

Rare Projectors and Manifestors

Truth lives in the will: what do I actually want, and what am I willing to commit to? Selfish-sounding on purpose. The heart makes promises the mind cannot audit.

VIMental Authority

≈ 3% of people · Slow · through dialogue

Projectors with no definition below the throat

No inner authority in the body at all. Decisions clarify through sounding-board conversations in the right environment. The environment is half the decision.

VIILunar Authority

≈ 1% of people · A full lunar cycle

Reflectors only

With every center open, a Reflector samples the moon’s full 28-day transit before a major decision. Rushing a Reflector takes something from them. The month is the method.

§ IV · Eva

Knowing it and obeying it are different skills.

Everyone with emotional authority has been told to sleep on it. Almost no one does, because in the moment, the wave feels like truth. This is where Eva earns her keep: she knows your authority, and when you bring her a decision, she answers in its grammar. Sacral people get asked yes-or-no questions. Emotional people get told, gently, that today's certainty is weather.

Over time she also notices your pattern of overriding it, and what it costs you, because she remembers the last four times.

§ V · Questions

Asked, in the quiet.

What are the Human Design authority types?

+

Seven: sacral, emotional, splenic, ego, self-projected, mental, and lunar. Each is a different location and tempo of inner truth, from the sacral’s instant gut answer to the Reflector’s 28-day lunar sampling. Your authority is read from which centers are defined in your chart.

What is the most common authority?

+

Emotional, at roughly half the population. Any defined solar plexus makes you emotional regardless of type, because the wave overrides every other mechanism.

How do I find my authority?

+

From your bodygraph. The hierarchy runs: solar plexus, then sacral, then spleen, then ego, then self-projected, then mental, then lunar. Cast your free chart above and it is listed alongside your type and profile.

What is the difference between strategy and authority?

+

Strategy is your type’s way of entering things. Authority is how you decide once something is actually in front of you. Strategy is the approach; authority is the verdict.

§ VI · The door

Stop deciding with borrowed equipment.

Every decision framework you have ever read was written for someone else's authority. Ninety seconds of birth data tells you which one is actually yours.
